Brett Rock
Managing Director and Portfolio Manager
Prior to establishing Jencay, Brett spent 6 years as an investment analyst with Orbis Australia (since renamed Allan Gray Australia).  
Before Orbis, Brett spent 6 years at Rand Merchant Bank, South Africa, principally focused on debt, as a credit analyst and specialist in the structured finance division.  Brett’s qualifications include: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA); Chartered Accountant (South Africa) and Bachelor of Commerce (with honours in Accounting) from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg.  
A significant proportion of Brett’s personal savings are invested in the Fund.
James Teeger
Investment Committee member
James is the Group Managing Director of E Oppenheimer & Son and a non-executive director of Rand Merchant Investment Holdings Ltd. He previously served as a non-executive director and chairman of the audit, risk and remuneration committees for De Beers Societe Anonyme. Prior to E Oppenheimer & Son, James spent 11 years at Rand Merchant Bank South Africa where he was the co-head of structured finance and a member of the Bank’s Management Board. James is a Chartered Accountant (South Africa).  James has invested a meaningful amount in the Fund.
Dr Jean Pretorius
Investment Committee member
Jean is currently a Director of Paintlife Pty Ltd, a company he established to develop mathematical methods and software used to simulate paint and colour mixing. He is a Director of the Simon Marais Mathematics Prize and a member of the Advisory Board to MATRIX, an international mathematics research institute with close ties to Melbourne and Monash Universities. After completing his Ph.D. in Pure Mathematics at Cambridge, Jean was a quantitative analyst and trader in commodity and equity derivatives at Merrill Lynch and Bear Stearns and then an equity analyst at Orbis Investment Advisory in London. He helped to establish Orbis’s presence in Australia from 2002 to 2007 before embarking on a career as an artist, entrepreneur and philanthropist.
